Here at CFI, we care about the environment, so we focus on green living and sustainable practices to help positively impact the world we live in.
Many customers still prefer printed materials over digital documents; however, whenever possible, we provide extensive documentation for proposals and other documents digitally. This tremendously reduces the amount of paper we utilize.
Our staff is continuously learning about new sustainable products and process improvements. We are highly motivated in finding new ways to reduce our carbon footprint and help make a positive impact on our environment.
We have several initiatives in place that help decrease our carbon footprint and benefit our environment.
Whenever possible, we ship product directly from the manufacturer to the job site. This not only reduces shipment lead times, but it also reduces fuel usage and truck emissions.
Intermodal shipments are a cost effective way of moving our product and operate with less emissions, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.
We consolidate small quantity deliveries into a multi-stop truckloads to reduce the number of shipments. To support this effort we are also reviewing our “Day of Week” logic, which increases consolidation opportunities by defining order quantities by geographical regions. Additionally, we use decking when possible to maximize trailer utilization.
For LTL sized shipments (“less-than-trailor-load shipments”), our national LTL carrier offers a program called “SafeStack,” which improves cube space within the trailer and at the same time significantly reduces damage. In SafeStack shipments, heavy-duty tracks are attached to supporting vertical posts along the trailer walls. Height-adjustable horizontal beams clamp securely onto these tracks and are moved up and down in one-inch increments to accommodate freight of various shapes and sizes.
Daily Trash Removal
In accordance with LEED practices, we remove trash from job sites on our own trucks. Therefore, we’re lowering the amount of fuel needed in order to complete a job.
EPA’s SmartWay program helps companies advance supply chain sustainability by measuring, benchmarking, and improving freight transportation efficiency. Partnering with carriers who are “SmartWay” certified ensures we are decreasing our carbon footprint.
